Bronzeville Arts and Recreation Center at Ellis Park Opens

July 27, 2016

After more than a decade of planning, the new Bronzeville Arts and Recreation Center at Ellis Park opened its doors to an enthusiastic community. Terry Guen Design Associates worked with Booth Hansen Architects and NIA Architects to integrate the landscape with the building design, capturing stormwater with two green roofs and a large infiltration swale planted with grasses and Bald Cypress trees. Both entrances serve as pocket plaza amenities for the neighborhood and the landscape will work to activate the community by bringing people together, encouraging bicycle riding and open play, and serving as a neighborhood anchor.
