The Gensler / TGDA team was tasked with the implementation of the JCFO concept design intent of a tilted building plane emerging from a native and adaptive meadow. The concept inverted the typical building-site hierarchy with the landscape rising above the architecture. The green roof ‘meadow’ mitigates stormwater runoff and promotes biodiversity at Navy Pier. The centralized information hub and cafe for the Navy Pier Campus serves as a respite prior to arriving at the revitalized south dock Pierscape.
